Silver Dragon

Silver Dragon

Alocasia Silver Dragon is an extraordinary plant that is considered more difficult to find (and therefore rare) as an indoor plant. With remarkable silvery, textured leaves, this plant is named for the foliage that resembles dragon scales.

Alocasia Baginda ‘Silver Dragon’ is an attractive aroid with light to emerald-green, heart-shaped foliage with darker venation. Surface of foliage possesses a texture that resembles dragon scales hence sometimes also known as Alocasia ‘Dragon Scale’. Grow well in a quick-draining potting medium

But the Dragon Scale is a much darker green, the silver dragon has a very light green and silvery hue.

The Silver dragon prefers a warm and humid place. So a temperature range between 55 °F– 80 °F (13 °C to 27 °C) is where they would optimally thrive. However, the plant can also withstand high temperatures of up to 95 °F, but watering should be consistent and they should not be receiving harsh sunlight.

Temperature & humidity

The silver dragon does well in a variety of household temperatures. It is not cold hardy, though. So if you live somewhere with four seasons, definitely bring this plant inside for the fall and winter.

Keep the temperature as consistent as possible…don’t put it by a heat or AC register, for example. Not only can this cause the temperature to fluctuate, but it can lead to increased dryness.
